The O’NEAL DIRT FLX chest protector represents a significant advancement in O'NEAL's protection lineup, combining superior impact protection with exceptional all-day comfort and flexibility. At the core of the new protector is a high-performance IPX® construction that meets the highest EN1621 Body Protection Standards. Using a smart overlapping lattice design and soft TPE components, the DIRT FLX chest protector has been developed to provide greater flexibility than rigid impact systems.
This is further reinforced by a smart dilatant compound material that stiffens and strengthens in direct response to impact force. This allows the overall construction to remain pliable enough to move dynamically with the rider, but hardens instantly when it matters most.
However, while protection remains the core aspect of the DIRT FLX functionality, comfort and adjustability have not been compromised. The overall construction has allowed for a slim, lightweight design that can be worn confidently under or over a jersey without adding bulk. Plush Bio-Foam padding and multi-adjustable shoulder pads and hip closures, paired with an ergonomic shape, maximize freedom of movement, while chimney ventilation channels hot air upward and out through purpose-built air ducts. This keeps riders cool and prevents excessive heat buildup during intense riding or racing sessions.
The DIRT FLX Chest Protector is also neck-brace compatible, engineered to integrate seamlessly with neck-brace systems for added rider protection. A proprietary replaceable mesh sleeve serves as a protective outer skin that can be swapped out, keeping the core armor looking and performing like new.
